February Art

I made a new grouping of art to rotate into the gallery this month. I felt some of my works were getting old there and it needed some freshening up!

The first couple heart artworks were actually inspired by my 6th grade art class. We were studying Jim Dine and his pop art hearts.  I made a smaller version of what they made when I came home from school one night. They are both made from acrylic and oil pastel. They just happen to fit in with the season.

"Bright Hearts #1"
mixed media on paper
artwork is 8"x10"
matted/framed in white size 10"x13"
$40.00

"Bright Hearts #2"
mixed media on paper
artwork is 8"x10"
matted/framed in white size 10"x13"
$40.00

The next artwork was made for a benefit show, "The Remedy" for ARCW. It's a good way to give back and all proceeds go to help the cause. It is a mixed media artwork.

"Hand of Hope"
mixed media on paper
artwork is 8"x10"
matted/framed in white size 10"x13"
$60.00

The next work is a mix of floral on mixed media background. I like textured surfaces and decided than an organic form looked best.

"Pink Orchids"
mixed media on paper
artwork is 8"x10"
matted/framed in white size 10"x13"

The last two are abstracts. They are color combinations that I enjoy and are sometimes challenging to make. I struggle with where to stop and how many layers and textures to include because there are really no rules when it comes to abstract art. Some take longer than others, but I am able to finally stop when colors and value balance in my eye. Only then am I pleased with what I made.

"Abstract Teal #2"
acrylic on canvas
16"x20"
$48.00

"Valentine"
acrylic on canvas
16"x20"
$48.00
