It has been little while since I've posted some new work. I have been diving into the photography medium so much more this summer and haven't had as much time to paint.
It just so happens that "Art on the Green" is this weekend and I had to kick it into full gear so that I would have plenty to show and hopefully sell, but I'm usually great under pressure.
A larger portion of my work for the art fair is constructed from several layers of materials, mixed media, and fun. I like to push the materials and see where they take me. Sometimes I fall off the edge and do too much and then have to find a way to recover my painting back into something that pleases me. Abstract works are so challenging.
I love working on vintage dictionary pages as a background. The viewer may not notice it right away, but after a while of staring at the piece it becomes more visible. The imagery disappears as the background comes forth. It's fun to see people discover new things the more they look at my work. I enjoy the puzzling looks as they try to figure out my process.
