New Charcoal Portraits

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all having a great holiday season. I wanted to post these portraits sooner, but I didn't want to ruin any surprises! These portraits were all Christmas gifts and hope the recipients liked their gifts!

I'm ready to start a new year and hope that my art grows. I want to be able to sell and display more work around the area as I produce more art. Art is one of my greatest passions and I plan to pursue it 100%. I am still showing and selling work at the LaCrosse Gallery in downtown LaCrosse if you didn't get to see it at Jackie O's in Galesville.

Portraits

Portraits are one of my favorite subjects to draw. I love to capture the spirit of family and friends by drawing candid portraits from photographs. Charcoal is my strongest medium when creating realistic portraits. I can transform a photo into a wonderful black and white artwork. I easily work at a fast pace as the shadows and highlights start to come alive.

I also work in color with acrylic or a combination of watercolor and ink. These colored portraits usually take a little longer but are more challenging.

Please let me know if you are at all interested in getting a portrait drawn of your loved one. I will give you a quote based on medium and size. I can also mat and frame your portrait.

Art For Sale: November/December 2012

I currently have some work for sale at Gallery La Crosse. This wonderful gallery in La Crosse, Wisconsin (320 Main Street). My art can be found there. All paintings and mixed media art is for sale. I try to change out the work and add different works often.

If you have any questions about dimensions or media of the work shown, please ask! If you see something you like or something that is similar to what you are looking for, please ask. I do take custom orders.

Feel free to contact me if you are interested in any of the works. Enjoy!

Fish Series 2012:
The fish series was created with a variety of mixed media. Each fish is painted on a vintage dictionary page. Dictionary pages were first washed with a layer of acrylic paint. I added alcohol ink to stain areas on the paper and let it dry. Next, I painted native fish and incorporated some mixed media techniques to finish each work. Each work is 8"x10" in size, matted in ivory, and framed with a crisp black frame.

"Crappie"
$60.00
SOLD

"Walleye"
$60.00

"Catfish"
$60.00

"Perch"
$60.00

Summer Harvest Series:
These three painting were inspired by my summer garden harvest. I cropped photographs and painted just a snippet of the fruit or vegetable. Each work is acrylic painted on a custom size canvas and framed with a black wooden box style frame to make each painting "pop." I originally painted them for my kitchen, but no longer have room. They are looking for good homes :)

"Green Pepper"
$150.00

"Strawberries"
$150.00

"Yellow Tomatoes"
$150.00

Bird Silhouettes
These were created on the same vintage dictionary paper as in the fish series. They have a whimsical with color palettes that I enjoy. Each work is 8" x 10" in size, matted in ivory, and put in a crisp white frame.

"Bird Silhouette #1"
$50.00

"Bird Silhouette #2"
$50.00

Abstract Art:
My abstract is about discovering new ways to use art media. It involved pushing art materials to their limit and working with them in a way that I haven't used them before. To me, it is about understanding how the aesthetic properties of the materials can create a mood or feeling to my work.

"Dripped Abstract"
$180.00

Other Works:

"Ice Cream Cone"
$50.00

"Dragonfly"
$55.00

"Apple Blossoms"
$45.00

"Abstract Root"
$45.00

"Swimming Fish"
$95.00
